Celebrating the Life of Edward ” Teddy” Pinheiro

With hearts brimming with memories, we celebrate the life and legacy of Edward “Teddy” Pinheiro, a true Trinidadian son born in Belmont on September 2, 1938. Departing this life on December 28, 2023, Teddy’s journey was one of passion, artistry, and an unwavering love for his family.

Teddy was more than a man; he was a great mas man, cultural activist, and historian, contributing significantly to the rich tapestry of our nation. From a young age, his love for art blossomed, leading him to Tranquility Secondary School and Osmond High School. Venturing to the United States, he pursued a career in advertising, later transitioning to become a mechanical engineer. Returning to Trinidad, he immersed himself in the carnival life, crafting mas costumes, judging calypso competitions, and gracing the airwaves with his insightful commentary on cultural events and calypso history.

A true curator, Teddy’s dedication to preserving our cultural heritage was unparalleled. His collection of original recordings, vinyls, and reel-to-reels stands as one of the largest in Trinidad, a testament to his commitment to archiving the essence of our artistic heritage.

Teddy, the cherished and youngest brother to Kenwin Horace, Stanley, Clayton, Joyce, Pamela, and Greta, was a loving father to Edward, Tara, Stefan, Lygia, and Devon. His legacy extends through his grandchildren Kievyn, Lourden, Zuriel, Kortney, Shania, Alondra, Devon, Eja, Hailey, Liam, and great-grandchild Kaleb.

To honor Teddy’s life, a public viewing will take place at Belgroves Funeral Home, Trincity, on Wednesday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00 am. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Belgroves Funeral Home at 10:00 am, followed by cremation at Belgroves Funeral Home Crematorium at 12:00 pm.

In remembering Teddy, let us celebrate the vibrancy he brought to our cultural landscape and the enduring love he shared with his family. May his artistic spirit and devotion to preserving our heritage inspire generations to come.
