Live Stream Technician

General Accountability 

This role will manage and support multiple events in live funeral service delivery by utilizing in-house and outsourced software and hardware systems. The role will be responsible for camera operation, audio-visual transmission, adjusting camera settings, configuring various wireless connectivity technologies (incl. cellular), managing start and end times and in some cases, adding remote commentary, graphics, overlays and other treatments.

Ideal candidates will be strong communicators and have a keen eye for detail.

  • Principal Accountabilities 
  • Monitor video transmission equipment.
  • Utilize video transmission equipment to optimize the broadcast picture in a variety of settings.
  • Implement graphics overlays on a broadcast.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality, continuity, and availability of multiple streaming platforms distribution events in a live and non-live environment.
  • Identify and correct audio and video quality issues to ensure client satisfaction is achieved.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues and production problems logically, calmly, and efficiently.
  • Communicate key information with other technicians, camera operators, supporting team members, and managers.
  • Be a team player who can work with multiple personalities in a live broadcast environment.
  • Work with live streaming protocols / platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Restream, etc.
  • Understand and respond to client concerns and issues with video streams.
  • Resolve issues and / or escalate as appropriate.
  • Commonly work weekends & evenings.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties.
  • Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Academic/Technical Qualifications 

  • Technical certificate in Broadcasting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Experience 

  • 1-2 years’ experience with digital production / delivery systems in a television or live broadcasting environment.
  • Experience with digital transmission technologies / broadcast-related equipment and common encoders.
  • 1+ years of experience in networking.

  • Proficiency in digital media fundamentals such as frame rates, bandwidth, and resolutions.
  • Proficient in camera operation and settings (white balance, shutter speed, gain, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite (Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with PC platforms.
  • Ability to learn complex systems.
  • High level of customer service experience and excellent communication skills.
  • An honest and highly confidential disposition is desirable and necessary.
