Machine Operator

The position is generally responsible for efficiently operating the CNC machine and Engraving machine.

All activities must be geared towards maintaining the highest level of service to both internal and external stakeholders and must conform to Internal Auditing standards and guidelines and to all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Runs the computerized cutting and engraving machines to slice and carve materials, such as metal parts, plastic, stone and wood.
  • Sets up the machine lens and adjusts the instrument between each project to meet specifications while adhering to proper safety procedures.
  • Enters all relevant codes to specify the feed, speed, and cut of any toolpath for a CNC.
  • Measures and verifies all calculations prior to setting up the machinery.
  • Monitors engraving machines and makes the necessary adjustments to ensure desired output.
  • Selects materials to be engraved and installs engraving cutters and other tools.
  • Selects appropriate speeds, feeds, depths of cuts and cutting angles.
  • Supervises the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce better results as needed.
  • Inspects products to ensure they meet the desired criteria.
  • Performs calibration of lazer in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Performs calibration of the axes in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Responsible for minor repairs and routine maintenance of the machines, as well as taking inventory of the machine-related products.
  • Prepares and submits production reports.
  • Maintains a clean and organized working environment.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures in the operations of the machines.
  • Assists in other job-related duties from time to time as may be directed by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) O’ Levels, two of which must include English Language and Mathematics
  • At least three (3) years working experience in a manufacturing environment
  • At least two (2) years working experience with machines
  • Relevant technical certification will be an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
  • Ability to read and understand blueprint designs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • An honest and highly confident disposition.
