It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Viscella (aka Vikki), Christena Richards who died on Wednesday March 6, 2024 at her home in Valsayn North, Trinidad and Tobago.

Viscella was born on December 29, 1944 in Port of Spain, Trinidad where she spent herearly childhood before migrating to Great Britain with her parents. Viscella was an only child.

Viscella was predeceased by her loving parents Cecilia and Conrad Richards. Viscella is survived by her maternal cousins Stella Bennett-Pinnock, Myrol Parsons, Relinda Bonnick-Parsons, Althea Parsons, Edward Parsons, Margaret Parsons, Celine Baynes, Gideon Correia from Toronto, Canada, Gerald Miguel and Maria Thomas of New York USA, her paternal cousins Yolande and Renee John and her dear friend Dr. Crystal Wint of Trinidad, and her two precious dogs, Paris and Oscar. She will be missed by her dear friend and travelling companion, Sir Timothy Cassel of London England.

In addition, there are many extended family members in Trinidad, England, Spain, Canada, the United States, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines who are all saddened by this sudden loss.

Following her formal education, which includes her study at the Royal Academy for Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London, England, Viscella had a successful career in modelling, in theatre and in Film. She became quite popular during the 1970’s in her adopted home of London, England and appeared in several TV shows such as The Onedin Line, Return of the Saint, Howard’s Way and “Excuse Me I’m British”. She may best be remembered for her role as a supporting actress in the 1973 British film Black Snake filmed on location in Barbados.

In 2004, Viscella returned to her beloved Trinidad and Tobago where she pursued local broadcasting work, hosting the popular home décor TV show called “Living your Dreams’, and produced a show highlighting Caribbean cricket legends.

Our family continues to grieve with the knowledge of the tragic and appalling circumstances surrounding her death in her beloved home. As a family, we will continue to pursue justice for Viscella.

We will always remember her beautiful smile, her kind spirit and her love of family.

May she rest in eternal peace!

A ‘Homegoing’ Service to celebrate her life will take place on Saturday April 6, 2024 at 11a.m. at the Belgroves Funeral Chapel in Trinidad (the “Trincity” location at 10 Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua Trinidad).  Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am prior to the Service.

The Service can also be viewed via a Youtube ‘livestream’ channel. Interment will follow to her final resting place.

The family wishes to express our gratitude to all those who have offered their condolences, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time. A special acknowledgement to Yolande and Renee John and Dr. Crystal Wint for their dedication and support.
