In Loving Memory of Mother Abyss Merle Gwendolyn Beddoe-Boswell, “Queen Mother”

It is with profound sadness yet heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mother Abyss Merle Gwendolyn Beddoe-Boswell, affectionately known as the “Queen Mother.”

Beloved wife of the late James Medford Boswell, she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, carried on by her cherished children: BettyAnn, EstherAnn, Arthur, Kenneth, Alsoona (Vindy), Kerwyn, and Keston Boswell. She was also the devoted adopted mother of AnnMarie Swan-Guada and countless others who were fortunate to have experienced her nurturing spirit.

As a proud grandmother, she adored her grandchildren: Justin, Shervon, Arthur Jr, Shelly, Aaron, Sherva, Jermaine (JJ), Dexter, Sheldon, Brendon, ShellyAnn, Shirlan, Kenlica, Rudana, Rayana, Randy Jr, Renaldo, Kadelle, Keron, Shariya, and Saffire. Her boundless love extended even further as a doting great-grandmother to Jamira, Jacob, Solange, Alexandria Tiana, Emily, Kileon, Darion, Damarion, Kimora, Jermaine, Jude, Anderson, Alex, Kayla, Asian, Nasir, Armani, Chelsea, Imari, and Kayleigh.

She was a cherished mother-in-law to Bishop Vincent Cobbler, Angelica Pierre-Boswell, and Randy Jackson.

Daughter of the late Euphemia Durity and Hubert Beddoe, and sister to Lenore Borrell and Joyce Derry (both deceased), Mother Abyss was a loving aunt to Sandra, Denise, Denzil, Hayden, and Stacy, as well as a devoted great-aunt to Maria, Melissa, Damian, and Stefano.

Her faith and dedication were unmatched, and she was a loyal member of St. Pisgah SB Church and the St. Francis House of Prayer and Healing School. She forged deep and meaningful friendships with Mother Merle Martin, Teacher Ira Jorsling, Ms. Berniece Charles, Aunty Jean Joseph, Glenis Butler, and many others, and is remembered with fondness by those she held dear, including Mother Rose and Leader Oswald (both deceased).

A special acknowledgment goes out to Dr. Wint, Dr. David Jackson, and Nurses Lisa, Linda, and Crystal, whose care and compassion made a difference in her final days. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported her.

The Boswell, Durity, Beddoe, and Martin families, along with all who loved her, will forever cherish her memory.

The Tribute Service for Mother Abyss Merle Gwendolyn Beddoe-Boswell will be held on Saturday, 28th September 2024, at The Vernon Leotaud Play Park (The Horseshoe), Chaconia Avenue, Pleasantville, San Fernando at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at Roodal Public Cemetery.

We extend our deepest appreciation for your love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

To the family of the late Mrs. Boswell,
Please accept my condolences on the death of Mrs. Boswell. Feather is something none of us can get accustom to because we were made to live forever. However we get comfort from the scriptures knowing that our loving creator will bring our dead loved ones back to life, his words at Acts 24:15 says ” There is going to be a resurrection.”
This promise offers your family a real hope in the near future to see her again right here on earth. For more information about the resurrection and the hope of living forever in paradise on earth, please visit http://www.jw.org
