Hey Brother, it was great serving with you—Israel. You were an amazing leader, mentor, and example of what cool and calm demeanor looks like. Rest well my friend and prayers to your Family. I have several amazing pictures of your family from their visit 12+ years ago. Peace and prayers.
Lemuel Doe, I
I never thought it would come to this moment to post his passing.
A few months ago, we were together in Entebbe.
We discussed the upcoming UN Games, Life After Retirement, and other things a few weeks ago.
We crack jokes about the Killer!!.
Hours before it happened, you sent this message:
“Don’t let the Enemy deceive you. Your body, no matter its shape or condition, is a powerful weapon against darkness. Don’t give in to spiritual, emotional, or physical frustration. Remember you are made in the image of God.”
You left me with questions, Gill…that you cannot answer now.
You were a mentor to me and many others. I wish you could see your impact on the people you meet, as reflected in the many words posted today.
You were not just a Chief; you were a confidant, a source of strength, and a beacon of light for many. Your laughter, kindness, and unwavering support brought joy to everyone around you.
Senior Brother, Big Boss, my heart is heavy as I bid farewell to my friend. Your absence has left an irreplaceable void in our lives, and our shared memories will forever be cherished.
Goodbye, dear friend, lie down and rest.
Goodbye Glendon…..

Praying Peace for the family as they go thru this time of mourning…
Saron Gebru
Today, we say goodbye to someone truly special, our dear friend and colleague, Gelendon Gill, or as may always called him, Glen.
Glen had that rare gift of lighting up every room he walked into, not just with his warm smile and quick wit, but with the way he made each person feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether it was a deep conversation or a laugh that echoed down the hallway, Glen had a way of reminding us all that work doesn’t have to be just about the tasks, it’s about the people.
He was a bright light in the UN family, and that light will be deeply missed. But we carry it forward in the love, the laughter, and the little moments he so generously gave to all of us.
Thank you, Glen, for being wonderfully you. You are already deeply missed!

My last memory of you is a good one, you enjoying a bit of family fellowship at Charmaine’s. You were your loving, jovial srlf and that’s how I choose to remember you. Condolences from the Aaron/ Valentine families to all your lived one during this time of grief.

Boss, General, as I have always called you. You never agreed to be called Chief. Whenever someone calls you Chief, your answer is MY NAME IS GILL. General, you have been everything to me. You have been my mentor, my teacher, my defender towards others, and I thank you for that. I pray to God for your eternal rest. God’s decision cannot be questioned.
Winston Mc Leod
I would like to express my sentiments on behalf of a friend and MINUSMA colleague who has passed away. During the time we worked together, I was fortunate enough to witness his passion, dedication, and hard work firsthand. He was not just a MINUSMA college, but also a mentor and friend who always went above and beyond to help others. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to live on in all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

I have nothing but good things to say about your leadership (FSU and Transport) and camaraderie, as a colleague and a big brother always giving us advice. Rest in peace brother knowing that you have fought the good fights and kept hope in all of us. Jean Martin

My dear Glendon, I am at a loss for words. But I tell myself if I’m writing this now, it must really be true, that you are no longer with us. It meant so much working with another Trini colleague – from the time we first met in Haiti to later working together in Mali. You were more than a compatriot, you were a friend, mentor, big brother and fearless advocate for your staff and colleagues. I cherish all of the good times we shared, endless jokes and laughter with Winston, Meli and your crew. I will never forget your kindness, your smile and your spirit. I am grateful to have met most of your siblings and your beloved Mother, and I continue to pray for them and your children. God definitely called you for a higher purpose and we are blessed to have known you. May you sleep in heavenly peace my dear, Glendon.
Adrian Bratu
Rest in eternal peace, good man!
Marco Fritsch
Like many friends and family, I am still in shock. Glendon, you really are an extraordinary and kind person, always cheerful and ready to help in any situation.
I had the privilege of working with you at TPT/Haiti and TPT/Mali and over the years I learned so much from your wisdom, dedication and generosity. During the last years at the UN, we were together in Gao, where we shared many beautiful moments that I will always cherish.
Just a few weeks ago, on April 27, in Valencia, I had the joy of seeing you again. You were radiant, full of life, embracing your retirement with the same warmth and positivity that characterized you.
Glendon, you were more than a colleague, you were my boss, my teammate, my friend and my big brother. Now, you walk hand in hand with God, and I trust that you are at peace, surrounded by eternal love.
We miss you very much, Glendon.
Rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Nawain Kangsen
Glendon, you embodied so much of what living ones best life represented. Only God knows why he decided to make the best of your life brief. Your kindness, loyalty, dedication, and commitment in always standing up for what was right made you a rare human in a world where conformity has become the norm. May the Good Lord open the path to eternal life and peace for you. Rest in Peace and Power my dear friend, until we meet again.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39.
Knalidi Somerson (Lidi)
I can’t rap my head around this one. I am still at a loss for words. My Trini brother who was so selfless, kind, accommodating and full of compassion. We met in Haiti and connected right away. I am happy that we remained in touch over the years and I would forever cherish those memories.
Rest in perfect peace and condolences to the entire family.

His contributions to the missions of peace keeping will be remembered with respect and gratitude.
Lubaba Abdella
My condolences to the family. Rest in eternal peace our beloved colleague and friend.
Shaniqua Matthews
We were sad to hear the news of our cousins dad passing! Although I didn’t know Mr. Steve Gill personally. I know Cherisse always spoke highly of all the things she did with her dad. She has spoken on their adventures, the meetings, the joy they shared. She smiled when her dad was mentioned and that alone spoke volumes of the type of man he was. Please accept our condolences and keep that same smile when thinking about Mr. Gill. He will forever be in your heart!
Alexandra Ouatu
Rest in Eternal Peace, Batch. You left a big void behind you. You left us to early, you were so full of life! You will not be forgotten. My sincere condolences to Gill’s family, friends and colleagues.

Cricket was an instant and common cause for an initial conversation! West Indian cricket, that is.
That was way back in December 2013 in Damascus, at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel. You, Glendon, had come in from UNTSO and joined the most diverse band of colleagues in common purpose to work for the elimination of chemical weapons from Syria, a mission so profoundly different from traditional peacekeeping and an unimaginable agreed agenda by USA and Russia. Amidst colleagues from UNFICYP, UNIFIL, UNDOF, UN Secretariat (NY), OPCW, OCHA, local Syrian staff, and UNWRA, and an abundance of international fare, you helped to make me feel welcome and to prepare for challenging work at the port of Latakia.
Sooner than I realised that initial conversation led to you supporting me for a fortnight in Latakia to ensure that preventive maintenance of the exclusively armoured vehicle fleet at my disposal was addressed. Fast forward a few years and we meet again in Mali, where you were a linchpin in Transport Section in Bamako. That allowed conversations on cricket and other sports, none more so than your passion for Arsenal and F1, especially Sir Lewis, to continue albeit with understandable differences of views from the Dutchman that I am -albeit internationally molded as indeed you too always have been. Talk on work and the other, often persistent, differences of opinion were fortunately low key.
In all of this, never mind we did not know each other altogether well, you towered as a gentleman, exuding good grace, calm and a perpetual broad smile. I take heart that this will now continue from the all high and that you will persist in ensuring we have an example to follow with that same good grace, and to count our blessings for every cherished moment we had together as colleagues and friends. Keep the Gunners’ flag flying with the tifosi red championed by Sir Lewis while you rest in peace up there!
Kahabie YEO
Dear boss. I am still in shock 😭😭 Rest in peace. My condolences to the family.
