Dr. Asaf Pirali

In Loving Memory of Dr. Asaf Pirali

Dr. Asaf Pirali (1948–2025) was a visionary leader, pioneering entrepreneur, and a trailblazer in private higher education in Trinidad and Tobago. Overcoming early adversity—including the loss of his father at seventeen and academic struggles—Dr. Pirali transformed his personal challenges into a lifelong mission of excellence, faith, and service.

An accomplished academic and professional, Dr. Pirali held a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Business, and earned prestigious credentials as both a Chartered Management Accountant and Chartered Accountant. He further distinguished himself with postgraduate diplomas and an MSc in Strategic Business Information Technology. His innovative approach to education led him to found the School of Accounting and Management (SAM), a revolutionary institution dedicated to expanding access to quality business education beyond traditional university channels. In partnership with renowned institutions like the Ashcroft International Business School and Anglia Ruskin University, SAM has empowered nearly 1,900 students, solidifying Dr. Pirali’s status as a pioneer in the Caribbean education sector.

Dr. Pirali’s influence extended far beyond academia. As an international speaker and dedicated broadcaster, he shared his insights on faith, leadership, and divine intervention through daily radio and television programs. A committed Church Leader, he inspired countless individuals with his message that “God is a Miracle Working God,” and his work on global Christian leadership helped train future leaders around the world. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident in his remarkable achievement of living debt-free for over thirty years, a testament to his disciplined approach and unwavering commitment to financial integrity.

Recognized for his significant contributions, Dr. Pirali was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Anglia Ruskin University in 2007—a fitting tribute to his role in shaping private tertiary education and addressing social challenges in Trinidad and Tobago. His visionary work with SAM also included innovative social initiatives such as the SAM Symphony, which harnessed local creative talents to offer positive alternatives to crime and social disorder.

Dr. Asaf Pirali’s legacy is one of resilience, innovation, and boundless compassion. His profound contributions to education, media, and community well-being have left an indelible mark on Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean region. As we remember Dr. Pirali, his life’s work continues to inspire and guide future generations toward a brighter, more empowered future.

On behalf of the management and staff of Belgroves Funeral Home, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Asaf Pirali. His visionary leadership and transformative contributions will forever serve as a beacon of inspiration and excellence for future generations.

In honor of his remarkable journey and lasting impact, a tribute service will be held on Friday, 14th February 2025, with a start time of 11:00am at The National Academy for Performing Arts (NAPA) Port-of-Spain. We invite you to gather and share in memories of a life dedicated to innovation, education, and service.

To the family of Dr. Asaf Pirali, please accept my condolences.
When a love one dies, the pain and grief can be unbearable. But our loving creator has given us a real hope of seeing our love ones again right here on earth. God promises at Isaiah 26:19″ your dead will live…thoes powerless in death come to life.” Only Jehovah has the power to do such, when they are resurrected back to life they will have the prospect of living forever in paradise on earth without getting sick or dying again. How happy we will be to welcome back our love one. To learn more about the resurrection. Please visit http://www.jw.org
