Eastlyn Forbes

In loving memory of Eastlyn Forbes

It is with profound sadness and grief that we announce the passing of Eastlyn Forbes on October 2nd 2024 at her birth home in Bethesda Trace Plymouth Tobago. She passed peacefully in the presence of her son Jelani Philbert, sisters Enid Forbes-Walters and Marilyn Forbes at her bedside. Eastlyn was the second of eight children born to Norris (Rocky) Forbes (deceased) and Jenny Williams (deceased). (Joycelyn Forbes, Marilyn Forbes, Enid Forbes-Walters, Eulyn Forbes, Merlyn Forbes, Trevor Forbes (deceased) and Neville Forbes (deceased).
Also sister to Cherise Hamilton, Jacqueline Scotland, Michelle Caesar and Janet Williams.

Eastlyn was very loving, caring, generous, and extremely compassionate. She was always laughing or smiling even when things were not favorable. She will be remembered by all for her cheerful and upbeat demeanor. She was very sociable and had a great passion for traveling, especially on cruises and adventuring. Eastlyn also enjoyed going to social, functions and gatherings with her friends, work colleagues, and the Malton Seniors Group. She loved to relax watching tennis, cheering for her favorite players and jeering at those she wanted to lose.

Eastlyn’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her niece Kimberly Forbes, her daughter-in-law Kendyl Philbert and most of all her two adorable grandchildren Kylan-Joseph (KJ) and Jelyssa Philbert.

Eastlyn completed primary and secondary education in Tobago where she made many friends and continued the friendships via social media as The Scarborough Government Secondary School Class of 1971, class reunions and frequent visits to Tobago.

Eastlyn migrated to Canada where she continued her education and graduated as a Registered Nurse. During her nursing school education she became best friends with Mureen Small who was by her side until her last days.

Eastlyn spent most of her working career at the Etobicoke General Hospital where she touched the lives on all those she interacted with. She was well-respected, adored, and admired by everyone at the hospital but especially by her immediate coworkers and other colleagues.

Eastlyn never forgot her siblings and after migrating was instrumental in securing residency abroad for some of them.
She left to mourn her husband Alvin Philbert, her children Jelani Philbert and Sharon Octavia Dupree Duke, her daughter in law Kendyl Philbert and her two loving grandchildren Kylan-Joseph (KJ) Philbert and Jelyssa Philbert.

To the family of Eastlyn Forbs,
Please accept my condolences on the death of your dear wife and mother. When we lost a love one in death it pains. But the Bible offers comfort at Acts 24:15 “There is going to be a resurrection” our loving creator promises to bring back to life our loved ones, right here on earth in paradise conditions. This hope is sure, when Jesus was on earth he brought back persons to life, that was a preview of what he will do In the near future. You can find more information about the resurrection at http://www.jw.org

Anyone can love you or claim that they love you when the sun is shining and things are bright and rosy, but it is when it is stormy and bleak that you learn who truly cares for you. Also there are those who love and cherish material things such as houses, clothing and money and neglect the love that the Lord has given to us and instructed us to share with each other. Eastlyn wanted to be cared for by her siblings, family and close friends during her declining days.
My son Jelani Philbert and his family and myself wish to sincerely thank those who supported us in order to fulfill her wishes during this perilous and saddening time. May she rest in peace in God’s kingdom.
