Wayne Chance

Wayne Brian Chance, a visionary leader and advocate for social justice, was born on February 21, 1958, in Port of Spain, Trinidad. His life’s work was dedicated to the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders into society, a mission that would shape his legacy and impact countless lives in Trinidad and Tobago.

Chance’s journey as a champion for the marginalized and disadvantaged began early in his life. After witnessing the challenges faced by individuals transitioning from incarceration to civilian life, he recognized the urgent need for support systems and resources to facilitate successful reintegration. This realization fueled his determination to create positive change and empower those seeking to rebuild their lives.

In 2001, Chance founded Vision On Mission, a non-profit organization committed to providing comprehensive support services to ex-offenders and their families. Under his leadership, Vision On Mission pioneered innovative programs aimed at addressing the complex needs of individuals transitioning from prison to society. These programs encompassed a wide range of services, including counseling, skills training, employment assistance, and community reintegration initiatives.

Chance’s compassionate approach to rehabilitation emphasized the importance of dignity, respect, and second chances. He believed in the inherent potential of every individual to transform their lives and contribute meaningfully to society, regardless of their past mistakes or circumstances.

Throughout his tenure as President of Vision On Mission, Chance was a tireless advocate for policy reform and systemic change within Trinidad and Tobago’s criminal justice system. He worked collaboratively with government agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders to raise awareness about the challenges faced by ex-offenders and to advocate for policies that promote rehabilitation, reintegration, and social inclusion.

In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the field of rehabilitation and social justice, Chance was posthumously honored as President Emeritus of Vision On Mission following his passing on September 9, 2020. His legacy continues to inspire and guide the work of the organization, which remains committed to realizing his vision of a society where all individuals have the opportunity to lead fulfilling and productive lives.

Wayne Brian Chance’s indomitable spirit, compassion, and dedication to serving others have left an indelible mark on Trinidad and Tobago, transforming the lives of countless individuals and communities for generations to come.
