Major General Ralph Brown

Major General Ralph Brown, a distinguished soldier, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on March 29th, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on March 12th, 1940, he leaves behind a legacy of honour, service, and love.

Ralph Brown dedicated his life to the service of his country, Trinidad and Tobago. He served with distinction in the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, where he rose through the ranks to the esteemed position of Major General before retiring in 1995. His commitment to duty and leadership inspired all who served alongside him.

Beyond his military achievements, Ralph was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving son Gary Skeene, Myra Skeene (wife). He also leaves behind Gary’s mother, Joycelyn Skeene, and his cherished grandchildren, Simeona, Braxton, and Sebastian Skeene, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mary Brown, as well as his brothers Cyril, Frederick, and Roderick Brown. He is survived by his sisters Marjorie Romear and Cynthia Brown, and his brothers Kenneth, Victor, and Peter Brown, along with numerous family members.

A public viewing will be held Sunday April 7th, 2024 between 3:30PM-6:30PM at Belgroves Funeral Home, #10 Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua.

A man of unwavering faith and integrity, Ralph’s life will be celebrated at a Church service on Monday, April 8th, 2024, at 10:30 am at All Saints Church, located at 13 Queen’s Park W, Port of Spain. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Following the Church Service please join the family for a Regimental Parade with full Military Honours starting at the corner of Western Main Road and long Circular Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinidad and Tobago Heart Foundation in Ralph’s honour, as a testament to his spirit of generosity and compassion. Major General Ralph Brown’s legacy of service, love, and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations to come. May he Rest in Peace.

    On behalf of The Bridgewater family, I would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the Brown family and friends on the passing of Major General (Ret’d) Ralph N Brown (deceased). General Brown had a long and remarkable career in service and would fondly be remembered for his unique style of leadership. Rest In Peace, General.

    I was honoured to meet Major General many years ago at All Saints Church. We served on the vestry together and his enthusiasm and drive to get things done always impressed me. His personality was so captivating – he will be greatly missed.

    Deepest sympathies to his family, relatives and friends. He was a great man and did a lot for the country. He was more humble and approachable than his accomplishments and military rank would lead someone to believe. He was a very good friend, and of excellent character.
