Russell Anthony Cunha

On Sunday, August 3rd, 1947, Russell Anthony Cunha made his grand entrance into the world. And on another September Sunday, precisely seventy-six years later, September 3rd, 2023, he quietly departed, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Born to Madge Kathleen Wells and George Leslie Cunha (both now resting in peace), Russell shared his journey in life with his siblings: Kathleen Uddenberg, Joan Uddenberg, and Brian Cunha. He embarked on a lifelong partnership with Beverly Cunha (nee Rollock) as her loving husband.

In his role as a father, Russell excelled, guiding and nurturing his children—Jason, Christian, Krista, Kandice, Kristofer, and Kaleb. His dedication to family extended to the next generation, where he delighted in the roles of a proud grandfather to Seth, Kyle, Tristan, Ethan, Zane, Liam, and Maxx.

Family bonds deepened through marriage, as Russell embraced his role as father-in-law to Sheldon Spiers, Amira Cunha (nee Mohammed), Donnie Ramkissoon, Jason Thompson, and Sofia Waddell Cunha. His extended family included beloved siblings-in-law, including Terence Uddenberg and Edward Uddenberg (both dearly departed), Aloma Cunha (nee Bodden), Linda McComie (nee Rollock), David McComie, Wendy Lee Yuen (nee Rollock), Michael Lee Yuen, and the late Robert Rollock.

Additionally, Russell was cherished as the godson of Joyce Wells, further highlighting the deep connections that enriched his life.

As we gather to remember and honor Russell Anthony Cunha, let us join together in a Tribute Service and Cremation. It will take place at Belgrove Memorial Chapel and Crematorium on Thursday, September 7th, 2023, commencing at 8:00 am.

Russell’s presence may have left this world, but his spirit remains forever in our hearts, walking with us daily in our thoughts.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your brother and friend. It is never easy losing a loved one.

Our deepest sympathy to Beverly and family words cannot express our sorrow. We watched the funeral and was struck by the outpouring of love and respect for Uncle Russ. It was one of the most moving funerals we’ve attended, in person or virtually. We think he would have liked it as much mention was made of his love of family and his sense of humour which he maintained up to the end. A truly fitting tribute to the man he was, one who enriched so many lives. Uncle Russ you will be missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, you are now promoted to glory! Our hearts and prayers are with you all.
